Why I am here.
I was in Exeter, England in August in terms of ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME. The course I attended is called ’Better English for Teachers’ and according to its name it was quite effective. I stayed at an English host family; therefore I needed to use the language outside of the school as well.
What we accomplished |
In my group, there were Polish, Spanish, Czech and Hungarian teachers. Our knowledge of the language were not on the same level, some had better vocabulary, but I dared to speak despite my mistakes and that turned out to be a big advantage. In addition, the teacher was very flexible, as he gathered the topics we are interested in and planned the course according to it.
We worked in groups or alone.
Another highlight was the school’s guide. He explained everything in a very interesting way. For instance for exploring the city we got a questionnaire which could be only completed by visiting the sights. On the first afternoon we explored Exeter in details, of course. We also learned, that every city, that’s name ends with „ester” or „eter” was a Roman settlement. Like Manchester J On the weekends we visited the famous places of Devon County. The trip to Dartmoor wasn’t so lucky, because the weather was rainy and misty. We didn’t see many things, but we tried Devon’s specialties, the Cream Tea, comprising tea taken with scones, clotted cream and jam. Wells is the smallest city of England with a beautiful cathedral. I spent my free time visiting the near villages with a couple of my classmates. Exeter is a calm and cosy town where everybody is kind, polite and helpful. I’m very grateful I had the chance to participate in this programme, as I feel it offered me a lot and I hope others will have the same opportunity. |
